Departure Bay Eco-School has an innovative and recognized ECO literacy program that has been garnering media attention.  The school focus has strengthened students connection to the community and to the immediate environment around the facility, increased enrollment and attracted new families to the school community.  The students, families and community would suffer a great loss if it's students were divided and redistributed to three aging schools already at capacity.  We call on our Nanaimo Ladysmith Board of Trustees to NOT adopt the recommendation to close Departure Bay Elementary School in June of 2016. Please share this petition and lets keep our school united, vital and open !
