Namibia needs to end the lockdown. If this lockdown continues or, worse, gets extended, the social and economic impacts will be disastrous. Namibia's economy is already stretched thin with high taxes and a near-bankrupt government. Are Namibians ready to face the economic fallout for years if not decades to come? Businesses will have a hard time recovering, if they recover at all. Unemployment will skyrocket and poverty-induced crime will reach new heights. It is inhumane to keep victims of domestic violence trapped at home with their abusers. Police brutality makes a mockery of Namibians' hard-won freedom and human rights from a brutal apartheid regime. And this all the while the ruling party's leaders reportedly had a jol of a time celebrating the party's 60th birthday. 

This needs to stop. The Namibian government's leaders need to face the music for transgressing their own rules. The lockdown should be lifted NOW.
