We are calling on Huddersfield Town AFC to rename the Riverside Stand the Sir Patrick Stewart Stand, in recognition of one of Huddersfield’s most famous and distinguished sons.

Sir Patrick Stewart was not simply an internationally renowned actor and philanthropist, he was a proud Yorkshireman and a lifelong supporter of Huddersfield Town.

From his extraordinary career on stage and screen, including his iconic portrayal of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek, to his continued affection for his hometown and its football club, Sir Patrick Stewart has brought recognition and pride to Huddersfield around the world.

He has never forgotten where he came from, and we believe that  after the sad news of his passing, it is time for Huddersfield Town to recognise what he meant to the town and its supporters.

Renaming the Riverside Stand in his honour would be a fitting and lasting tribute to someone whose connection with Huddersfield goes far beyond celebrity.

We ask the club’s owners and board to recognise this opportunity and give one of our Town’s most recognisable and proud supporters a permanent place in the history of Huddersfield Town.

Let’s give Sir Patrick Stewart a stand of his own.
