Name the New Roundabout as "Khalsa Chowk"

The issue

The proposed name of the newly constructed roundabout near the Sikh Temple in our city of Griffith holds a great personal significance for our Sikh community. For us, the name itself is an embodiment of our faith. Therefore, we suggest that the roundabout should be named "Khalsa Chowk".

The term "Khalsa" holds profound significance in the Sikh community, derived from the Persian word "khālis", meaning "pure" or "genuine". It represents the group of Sikhs who adhere to a staunch code of ethics, displaying purity, justice, equality, and an unwavering devotion to God. By naming the roundabout “Khalsa Chowk”, we aim to uphold our belief of equality and divine presence in every individual, ideals central to our faith.

We appreciate the Griffith City Council and all the honourable councillors for giving us the opportunity to propose this meaningful name for the roundabout. We ask for your further support, and that of the broader community, in making "Khalsa Chowk" the official name for our new roundabout. We joyfully look forward to the unity, acceptance, and understanding that this symbol will encourage in Griffith. Please sign our petition to show your support for this initiative.
