Name shaming is a global problem which affects victims of all ages to the point where the victim is afraid to say their true name in public, they are afraid to wear name tags bearing their name at work, and they even want to legally change their name out of shame that has arisen due to the new found association with their name.

The victims of name shaming are having nightmares due to the daily experiences they endure as they hear their name being consistently used to promote hatred and discrimination on social media, radio and news outlets. Victims of name shaming are suffering depression and anxiety at the hands of others who think "it's just a joke", or that they "should not take it personal." Victims have also been harassed and belittled simply because of the name they were given at birth matches a name that is the current center of incredibly offensive and distasteful humor. 

With an increasing presence of online bullying,  name shaming has escalated to a level never before seen and it needs to stop. We should be raising each other up, not shooting each other down. Name shaming promotes widespread bullying and transmission of hatred and negativity. By raising awareness of how the effects name shaming can have on another individual, we hope to put a stop to this trend, so we can give them back their name and so that we can give them back their lives. Name shaming is absolutely personal when you are the one it affects. Walk a mile in someone else's shoes before using another persons name as the centre of a joke - It really does hurt.

Every signature and every voice helps us to achieve our goal to get rid of the negative and to replace it with kindness and positive energy. However, we also need voices of higher power that can help us to enforce a no tolerance rule for name shaming so we can finally put an end to it and instead, start treating each other with human dignity and respect that we should all be entitled to and that we each deserve.
