In recent days, we've heard from lawmakers and institutional leaders eager to learn more about The Emperor Norton Trust's proposal to name the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge tunnel through Yerba Buena Island as the
EMPEROR NORTON TUNNEL
We're seeking this naming in 2026 — the 90th anniversary of the Bay Bridge.

The California state legislature needs to approve an Emperor Norton Tunnel naming resolution by the close of the legislative session in September.
This doesn't leave a lot of time — and we don't want to leave anything on the table.
Those with the power to make an Emperor Norton Tunnel naming happen are watching our petition.
