Why Sign The Petition?

Everyone deserves the right to their own name and image. Domestic student-athletes finally have these fundamental rights, but outdated visa regulations still unfairly restrict international student-athletes’ NIL rights.

The problem is that even with the NCAA’s permission, international student-athletes ("ISA") are still restricted by outdated visa laws that were mostly written in 1986 and 1996. Before we even had a concept of remote work, social media, or the internet!

  • Today ISA cannot have their own brands or businesses while attending school in America.
  • Today if an ISA from Australia has a successful business idea or YouTube channel, they have to give it up if they want to go to school in America.
  • Today if an ISA from Canada is offered an NIL deal by businesses in Canada, they cannot do those deals if their feet are in America.

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) can easily fix this equality issue by simply issuing a Policy Memorandum that broadens or modernizes their outdated interpretations. Over 20,000 ISA need our support!

If you believe everyone deserves the right to their own name and image then sign the petition along with NOCAP Sports, 20 Coaches Associations, top immigration law firms and thousands of individuals!
