Name Beach Park For Phil Lesh

The Issue

Please sign this petition to have Beach Park named for Phil Lesh.

When Phil and Jill Lesh opened Terrapin Crossroads they converted Beach Park into the Backyard of our clubhouse. There was free music there many times when Phil woke up and decided he wanted to play as well as paid concerts. There was a climbing structure for kids and bocce courts for everyone to use.

Naming the park for Phil would be the perfect honor.

Joint Response from Mayor Kate, Council Members Kertz and Llorens Gulati, and Director Quffa: The City greatly appreciates the community’s passion and desire to honor Phil Lesh and his contributions to both San Rafael’s Beach Park and our arts and music culture. Unfortunately, since the departure of Terrapin Crossroads, Beach Park has been closed due to safety and security concerns. We would encourage the community look at other options for honoring Phil Lesh, until the City is able to safely reopen the site. The City currently has an active park bench and picnic table sponsorship (https://www.cityofsanrafael.org/bench-and-picnic-table-sponsorship-program/) program that could be another way to memorialize Phil’s contribution to our community.
