One Year Later: The USS Henry Breault Petition Gains Ground
Exactly one year ago, I launched a petition to honor Medal of Honor recipient Henry Breault by naming a VIRGINIA-class submarine after him. As the only enlisted submariner to receive this prestigious award, Breault embodies the courage, resilience, and sacrifice of generations of submariners. His legacy deserves permanent recognition.
Progress to Date:
📜 Over 2500 signatures and 966 shares on social media—thank you for helping spread the word.
⚓ The USS HENRY BREAULT Association (501(c)(3)) has officially formed to support this effort and the future crew.
🏛️ The Town of Putnam, CT has established March 8 as “Henry Breault Day.”
🎓 The U.S. Naval Community College (USNCC) has launched a Henry Breault contest in its Naval History 102 coursework, tying heritage directly to education.
📢 Media support continues to grow, including features from WTNH-TV, CIMSEC, Amazing Tales with Mike Allen, and The New London Day.

Now, we stand at a pivotal moment. With growing public support and institutional recognition, the call is clear:
To the Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Navy, and decision-makers—let’s name the next VIRGINIA-class submarine after Henry Breault.
Let’s honor a hero. Let’s preserve his story. And let’s ensure every future submariner knows the name that represents their values.
