On a fateful day, my beloved son, who was a beacon of light in our community, was tragically taken from us due to gun violence. He was not another statistic; he was cherished, and his life was filled with love and dreams of a bright future. His departure has left a deep void in our hearts and in our neighborhood. Today, I am making a heartfelt plea to honor his memory permanently by naming a street after him in our community.

My son was more than just a victim—he was a son, a brother , father , mentor and a loving friend to many. He touched the lives of everyone around him with his kindness and determination. In recognition of the impact he had on our lives and the message of peace and unity he represented, I believe that naming a street in his honor will serve as a lasting tribute to him and a powerful reminder of the need to combat gun violence.

Every year in the United States, over 19,000 people lose their lives to gun violence, according to the Gun Violence Archive. Memorializing my son with a street naming will not only honor his life but will also stand as a symbol of hope and change in our community. It will be a constant reminder to work together towards ending gun violence and supporting those affected by it.

I urge the local council and community leaders to consider this proposal. By doing so, we can keep my son's legacy alive, showing that he mattered and inspiring positive change in our environment.
