Nevida Butler has been integral to the positive change that has taken place in East Palo Alto during the last fifty years. For decades, her unwavering dedication to the community has inspired residents and transformed the lives of countless East Palo Alto families, standing as a beacon of hope and love in some of the most challenging and desperate times. From advocating for disadvantaged individuals to spearheading sustainable development initiatives, Nevida's efforts have consistently focused on benefiting our community's future. Her leadership during pivotal moments and the support for underprivileged families, have been invaluable.

In recognition of these tireless efforts and countless achievements, we propose naming the rail spur adjacent to The Ecumenical Hunger Program, the organization that she has dedicated her life to, after Nevida. Naming this public space after her will not only honor her contributions but also serve as a lasting reminder of what compassion, love, community spirit and dedication can achieve. This memorialization will inspire future generations to take pride in leading and empowering their community, just as Nevida has.
