Petition updateEnd "catch up" and let's "build up". Extend principles of quality early education to 7.A collective response to #BoldBeginnings

Keeping Early Years Unique
Jan 18, 2018
What a week it has been! Last weekend I updated our petition to extend EYFS to 7.. and it led to a renewed interest in the campaign and over 4k new supporters. Thank you everyone!
One of the biggest education stories of the week came from us! Our open letter signed by now almost 2.7k signatories challenging OFSTED over their highly criticised Reception report was printed in the Guardian, along with a news piece and my views on Baseline testing.
Our open letter supporters included names such as Lord Robert Winston, Michael Rosen, Tracy Brabin MP, Thelma Walker MP, Caroline Lucas MP, as well as union leaders, early years organisations, professors of education, academics, researchers, teachers, early years practitioners, parents, carers, headteachers, school leaders and many more besides.
Twitter was alight once more with discussions around Bold beginnings. Some of the behaviour from people in disagreement with our letter (ironically many who had no experience of working in the early years) has been pretty shocking to be honest. Again the point has been well and truly proved that early education appears to be fair game and open to attack. That is why it matters more than ever to stand together to be counted.
I have been absolutely blown away by the response to our open letters. People have been emailing, messaging and tweeting simply to say thank you for making a stand.
I have said it before and I will say it again.
"Individually we are one drop. Together we are an ocean".
Thank you everyone. Keep talking. Read our letter, sign it if you are with us and get involved. This is just the beginning, but I really believe as I have said before: change is coming!
