Last week I was astounded and honoured to find out that my work for Teach Us Too has been shortlisted for the Rising Star Award from the Directory of Social Change. The Rising Star award is for young people who have had a major impact in their organisation / community by achieving positive change themselves or by engaging others to bring about concrete results.

Since launching Teach Us Too we have presented to 300 trainee teachers at the University of the West of England, made links with schools, parents and professionals, and continued to campaign for all children to be taught literacy regardless of their label.  

My hope is that being nominated for this award will raise the profile of this important issue so that more children are able to use their voice.
