Safe Odisha For Her (SOFH), Odisha conducted a half day workshop on Cancer Survivorship, Patient Centricity and Oncofertility Rights on 25th Oct '25 in Bhubaneswar. It consisted of various stakeholders in cancer care such oncologists, gynaecologist, psychologists, disability rights activist, palliative care experts, grassroot health champions such as ASHA workers, ANM as panelists and cancer patients/survivors and caregivers as participants.
I, as a Jana Nayika Fellow and Oncofertility Rights campaigner, anchored and moderated the discussion. And we hope that we take this further in meaningful ways in ensuring better cancer care in Odisha.
About 3 cancer survivors also inspired us and left us awe-struck with their journey on what kept them going despite the difficult struggle of their fight against cancer, and the healthy habits that contributes to them staying disease-free.
Oncofertility care is an oft ignored aspect of cancer care in India. There is little awareness on this and there is a lot left to be done in this regards to ensure dignity in survivorship.
