I am a black muslim student, who was once a student at IUP. I was involved in a physical altercation in the IUP library because I was being harassed for religious reasons, and I was attacked. The other party came from where he was and attempted to assault me and I defended myself. The video is available and clearly shows that i was attacked first. We had a Iup court hearing and despite there being evidence about me being struck first  I was found in violation of every last charge against me. After I received my sanctions informally, i was picked up by university police and escorted off campus. Me and another woman verified the following day that the police were not suppose to escort me off campus. There was no record of them ever even coming to the library to escort me off campus in their police database. I appealed my decision based on the grounds of self-defense and the focal point of my appeal was denied. When i spoke to the assistant President of Social Equity of the University he was being contrary and dismissive stating that self-defense was not an argument and that the officers were doing their job despite me verifying that werent. I have been suspended from the University with no justice whats so ever.
