Even Journalism Insiders Agree — "Exposure" Alone No Longer Works

Even Journalism Insiders Agree — "Exposure" Alone No Longer Works
Just came across this powerful piece from the Nieman Journalism Lab (Dec 2025):
https://www.niemanlab.org/2025/12/journalism-will-stop-relying-on-exposure-to-hold-the-powerful-accountable/
"Journalism will stop relying on exposure to hold the powerful accountable."
Key takeaway: The old model of "just expose the truth and pressure will follow" has broken down. In today's flooded media environment, constant spotlight has become meaningless "ambient light." Wrongdoing gets absorbed or deflected with no real consequences.
This perfectly validates why we need the News Accountability Act of 2026 (NAA2026). We can't rely on goodwill or more reporting alone. We need structural fixes: mandatory prominent corrections, creator compensation when outlets profit from our content, clear labeling of opinion vs. fact, and real consequences for reckless falsehoods.
2026 is the year we stop subsidizing media outrage machines with our attention.
Sign and share this petition if you want real accountability instead of endless clickbait. Let's make the powerful feel the pressure again.
