NAA2026: Truth With Teeth – Hold Media Accountable & Pay Creators Fairly

As a 61-year-old disabled veteran and independent content creator who has spent over three decades building online communities, I have watched the same pattern repeat for years:

false stories spread like wildfire, destroy reputations and lives, divide families, and influence elections — while the platforms and outlets that profit from the chaos face almost no real consequences.

I’ve seen good people lose jobs, relationships, and peace of mind because of stories that were later quietly walked back or never corrected at all.  I’ve watched creators pour their time, creativity, and audiences into platforms only to receive a tiny fraction of the revenue their work generates. This isn’t just unfair — it’s unsustainable.

Public trust in the media has collapsed.

According to Gallup’s 2025 poll, only 28% of Americans now say they have a “great deal” or “fair amount” of trust in mass media

— a new historic low.

Pew Research found that trust in information from national news organizations has dropped significantly in recent years.

At the same time, false information spreads 70% faster and reaches people up to six times quicker than the truth.

The creator economy is now valued at over $200 billion!

Yet most independent creators still struggle to earn a living because platforms take the lion’s share while offering little accountability when harmful content is amplified for engagement.

#NAA2026 — the News Accountability Act — fixes this broken system.

It requires:

Mandatory prominent corrections when a story is proven materially false. Outlets must run corrections at least 33 times more visible than the original lie and keep them up for three full days.

Fair pay for creators. Platforms that profit from creator content must implement transparent, meaningful revenue sharing instead of treating creators as free labor.

Targeted reform of Section 230. We keep protections for good-faith speech, but remove the blanket immunity that currently shields platforms when they recklessly amplify harmful, provably false content.

Real financial penalties scaled to a company’s revenue for repeat offenders.

This is not about government censorship or controlling what people can say.

It is about accountability after the fact — the same standard we apply to almost every other industry.

While #NAA2026 holds the system externally accountable, the Into the Mind work helps people recognize how constant exposure to manipulation affects their thinking and reclaim clarity. One cleans the information environment. The other helps people heal from it.

I am asking for this because I have seen what happens when lies go unchallenged
and creators are exploited. I am fighting for a future where truth has consequences
and the people who create value are actually paid for it.

If you believe the media should face real consequences for proven lies…
If you believe creators deserve fair compensation for the value they create

If you want future generations to inherit an information ecosystem they can actually trust
