The N4CSGA Executive board recently became aware of Senate Bill 692 that was introduced on April 10th, 2023.

The proposed bill removes the right for students to serve as a member on their local community college board of trustees. Currently SGA Presidents are allowed to serve as a non-voting member on their community college's board of trustees. This bill also eliminates a seat on the State Board of Community Colleges for the North Carolina Comprehensive Community College Student Government Association (N4CSGA) President. This means the newly elected N4CSGA President for 2023-2024 will not sit on the state board and represent the student voice. 

We are focused on ensuring that the student voices and needs are met through representation of students on these boards. We encourage community college Presidents, Board of Trustee Members, State Board Members, SGA Members, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and supporters to help us in this effort.
