Recently the daughter of Police Chief Steven Hunt made multiple claims such as "My dad is now officially police chief so that means he's more advanced in shooting black people then he just was a couple minutes ago" and "I'll make my dad drive with lights and sirens and if we see any black people we will shoot them" along with other statements. This is obviously a threat on black people/racial minorities within Naugatuck, Connecticut. Not only does it portray an obvious threat, it is obvious racial agitation on the behalf of the police chief and sets a tone for the rest of the Police Department

Negative effects from racial agitation such as this by those in power, or on behalf of those in positions of power:

1. Minorities feeling less safe and less safe outside
2. White Supremacist's feeling emboldened and as if the police are on their side
3. Giving direct credit to racist ideals
4. Even racist jokes have been proven to increase latent racist feelings within people

Whether or not the Police Chief would act on this is unsure, though the police department does not have the best reputation. However, not only does racial agitation on the behalf of the Police Chief have obvious negative consequences, but not acting also encourages this behavior of those in power and may lead to being more emboldened to act out on these thoughts.

The main goal is to hold whoever possible to the highest level of accountability for this. It's simply irresponsible, harmful, and immature for this level of racial agitation on behalf of the Police Chief to occur.
