There is no country in the world where women are paid more than or the same as men.

In London, women are paid 6.4% less than their male counterparts. The wage gap is the difference in pay between different groups, in this case women and men. The wage gap in London is measured as the percentage difference between men's and women's median hourly earnings across all jobs in London. Women are at an unfair advantage of being paid significantly less than men, and this is an inequality we must not stand for.

In order to achieve economic fairness, everyone working in London needs to be paid equally and treated fairly by employers. Pay gaps exist between many different groups. Increasing flexibility and support for employees, providing secure employment and workplaces that reflect London’s population at all levels, free from discrimination, will offer a labour market that can suit all.

A way that can help to diminish this inequity is by investing in childcare and making workplaces more child-friendly. This will give women as many opportunities for promotion as men. Having children should not justify them being paid less for doing the same job upon re-enteing the workforce. The pay gap grows with age, so the time to end the pay gap is now.

By signing this petition, you are pushing for equal pay for all women and men.
