NSFAS must fund students wrongly affected by N+rule!

NSFAS must fund students wrongly affected by N+rule!

The Issue

Recently, a large number of students have reported that they've been excluded from NSFAS funding due to exceeding the N+ rule, even though they haven't exceeded it. It appears that the majority of these students are students that started 4 year degrees in 2018 and are now entering their N+ year this year, in 2022.

Furthermore, they don't know how to proceed as the appeal reasons NSFAS lists on their portal don't account for being told that you've exceeded N+ when you haven't. Students are struggling to get responses from NSFAS as they are borderline unreachable recently. The academic year is underway, and this situation is causing immense stress for the affected students, as they are now starting the academic year on the back foot. Many of these students can't register altogether due to this apparent error.

We hope that this petition will reach NSFAS, and that this mass exclusion will be corrected and all affected students will receive their funding (and by extension, receive the opportunity to obtain their degrees and take a step towards realising their dreams).
