Create a bridleway in Honley Woods

The planning for the bridlepath began in 2014 and has now been well over two years in the making. Until recently, all concerned parties, namely Kirklees Council, Kirklees Bridleways Group and the land owners, Myers Group, were all happy with the proposed dedication of a section of unused land adjacent to a dormant quarry site, for permissive use by bridleway users.
The land owners recently submitted planning permission for a quarry next to the woods and appeared to go 'cold' on the prospect of the bridlepath despite the quarry having no direct connection to the route of the proposed path. The proposal for the quarry was refused by the council and now Myers group are not willing to cooperate with the creation of the path, even though Kirklees Bridleways Group has raised all of the funds needed for its development and all other parties are fully on-board.
Two months ago, letters were sent to the CEO of the Myers Group by three local councillors, Meltham Town Council, a local business association, local residents and several horse riding organisations, both local and national. We are therefore gathering support in an attempt to engage the land owner in what we hope will result in the delivery of a vital benefit to the local community.
We the undersigned support the creation of a bridleway in Honley Woods, to promote horse-riding, increase safety on local roads and help regulate the existing use of the woods by motor bikes.
