My Son Died Because of Mumbai's Potholes: BMC, Please Make Road-Safety a Priority
The Issue
On 28 July 2015, I lost my 16-year-old son Prakash in a road accident caused by a pothole. 7 years have passed, his case is still pending in court, and Mumbai's potholes still continue to take lives, the latest being that of a 22-year-old two-wheeler rider who was crushed by a tanker after getting hit by potholes.
After Prakash's death, I took a decision to fill the pothole-shaped open graves that I spot on my way using mud, debris and paver blocks. But how much can a grieving father do alone? If you sign my petition, then we can together appeal to the Maharashtra government to fill up Mumbai's potholes and save lives.
I hear of young two-wheeler riders getting crushed under trucks and buses, every week. All have one thing in common - 'they lost balance because of potholes'. Would you believe - in the last one month, Thane alone has witnessed 7 pothole deaths! Sign my petition if you don't want another life to be lost due to potholes.
I’m hereby appealing to the BMC to take a stand in this matter and take road safety as their top concern during the monsoon season. Please sign the petition so we don't lose another precious human life due to a pothole. Consider it my late son Prakash’s last wish.
