My teenage boy was tortured - tied by his neck and shackled to a restraint chair at Don Dale centre. The abuse was carried out by the staff employed to protect him. It’s utterly shameful.

I’m Dylan’s mum. You might recall a hooded photo of him that went viral 3 months ago, when the ABC’s Four Corners revealed shocking footage of boys like my son being beaten, stripped naked, assaulted by staff at the NT correctional centre. 

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull was so confronted by the evidence, he immediately called a Royal Commission into the facility. Turnbull said my son’s treatment was “disturbing”. 

But Dylan's still being abused. Right now he's still under the “care” of the thugs who previously assaulted him over 6 years. I’m terrified for his mental and physical safety. 

He was due for parole over a year ago - he doesn't need to be in there. But the NT government are refusing to release him. He’s trapped under their control in the lead up to him giving evidence at the Royal Commission.

I’ll admit Dylan’s not been an easy kid - he's gotten himself into trouble in the past. But no kid deserves torture as punishment, or being held inside longer than sentenced, being further intimidate by his abuser.
