MY KID. MY CHOICE. LET KIDS PLAY.
The Issue
🏈 MY KID. MY CHOICE. LET KIDS PLAY.
My son, Kashus Clarvoe, transferred from Broomfield High School to Valor Christian after my plumbing business relocated south to handle emergency service jobs. Our family made a decision based on our circumstances and our livelihood.
Yet his transfer was deemed athletically motivated, and he is being required to sit out for 365 days.
As his father, I feel his freshman season—1,815 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns—has overshadowed the circumstances behind our move. Those numbers don’t tell you why our family relocated. They don’t tell you who Kashus is as a person. And they shouldn’t make our explanation matter any less.
He is a kid whose family had to make a life change, and he deserves to have that reality heard.
No child starts at a school knowing exactly what to expect or whether it will be the right fit. Jobs change. Families move. Children’s needs change. As parents, we have a responsibility to protect our children and make decisions that support their future. We should have the freedom to choose to change schools without that choice costing our children the opportunity to participate in something they love.
I’m asking parents, student-athletes, coaches, and community members across Colorado to support this petition calling on CHSAA and state leaders to revise athletic transfer rules.
We need a “My Kid, My Choice” policy that allows students to transfer schools without athletic eligibility restrictions or waiting periods simply because they transfer.
This reaches beyond Kashus. It affects every family that may someday need a different school, a different community, or a fresh start.
Please sign this petition, share our story, and help us bring statewide attention to the need for change.
Let families choose.
