Alexandra is more than where we live—it is our home, our community, and our shared responsibility. Every street, park, school, and public space reflects the pride we have in our community.
On International Human Duties Day, JCI Sandton calls on every resident, business, school, faith-based organisation, community organisation, and stakeholder to turn responsibility into action.
A cleaner Alexandra begins with each one of us.
We believe that every citizen has not only rights, but also a duty to protect our environment and contribute to a healthier, safer, and more dignified community.
Our Pledge
By signing this pledge, I commit to:
✅ Never litter and encourage others to do the same.
✅ Dispose of waste responsibly and support recycling initiatives.
✅ Help keep Alexandra's streets, parks, schools, and public spaces clean.
✅ Report illegal dumping and promote responsible environmental practices.
✅ Participate in community clean-up initiatives whenever possible.
✅ Inspire my family, friends, neighbours, and colleagues to become active citizens who care for our community.
Our Call to Action
By signing this pledge, I also call upon:
- Residents to take pride in keeping Alexandra clean.
- Community leaders to champion environmental responsibility.
- Businesses to support local clean-up and recycling initiatives.
- Schools to educate learners about civic responsibility and environmental stewardship.
- The City of Johannesburg and its partners to strengthen waste management services, address illegal dumping, and work with communities to build a cleaner, safer Alexandra.
