In response to the arts community being in dire crisis, it’s vital that the United States government appoints a Secretary of the Arts to the presidential cabinet. Not only would this provide significant cultural leadership, additionally, having a “SOTA” would be the conduit to stimulating economic development directly related to the arts.
Now in the case of Covid, rebuilding the significant loss of performing arts organizations and supporting individual artist’s missions & livelihoods is more important than ever.  
 
The Secretary of the Arts, (SOTA) would oversee, support, unify and develop a national arena for the arts and work in conjunction with the National Endowment of the Arts as well as a multitude of public arts programs.
