There are a lot of musicians today who look the part, but being an icon should be about more than just looking the part. An icon should be the full package; meaning not only do you look the part, but you have the substance to back your image.

An icon is an artist who, like the name suggests is representative of a certain genre/era in music. David Cassidy was representative of an era in the 1970s when like never before had there been such hysteria among young fans , not since Elvis Presley and The Beetles in the 50s and 60s.

Internationally, David Cassidy's solo career eclipsed the already phenomenal success of The Partridge Family. He became an instant drawing card, with sellout concert successes in major arenas around the world. These concerts produced mass hysteria, resulting in the media coining the term "Cassidymania".

At the peak of his fame, David Cassidy was the world’s highest-paid solo artist, and he sold a whopping 30 millionrecords over the course of his career. Still, his status as the only real teen idol of the ’70s meant that like other pop icons, he wasn’t taken seriously.

An  icon has that “it” factor.. that presence that can be felt when they walk across that stage or when he or she enters a room. They have magnetic draw that instantly pulls you in. Icons are able to connect with their audience and create movements with their craft.

David Cassidy certainly possessed All of these attributes. That is why it is so important to remember this great musical Icon of the era .

Please keep David Cassidy a deserved place in Camden, London on the Music Walk of Fame.
