A few Parrsboro homeowners have had a huge charge made to their tax/utility bills to cover a federally mandated clean water program that is a benefit to everyone. There was no consultation, no communication, no advance warning of the charge. There are still so many unanswered questions.

Those who must bear this burden are a mix of seniors, families, artists and businesses - all struggling now to keep up. The soul of Parrsboro will suffer if people must leave, businesses close and new entrepreneurs are no longer attracted to this town.

Please lend your support to the voices who want to see amendments to the proposed Local Improvement and Sewer By-Laws before Council gives the green light to do this over and over again. The sewer charges in Parrsboro are very closely related to the proposed, County-wide by-laws. We must have assurances that Council, the Province and the Federal government will jointly and severally fund this and similar public projects.
