Forgive me - It has been a while since I have provided you with an update. As with worker bees we continue to work behind the scenes to bring our vision for change to fruition. This petition and attending grandparent support groups has also led to increasing number of grandparents connecting for support.

Update:

1. Completed our research surveys that have reached thousands of grandparents and this includes people that know someone whose grandchildren have been abruptly removed from their lives.  

2. I am in the process of almost writing a report on the grandparents/children experiences that will feature case studies and what changes we are asking government. This will be launched this month with clear Calls for Action that we will advocate to the decision makers. These will extend across to the Judiciary, Cafcass, Ministry of Justice and more!

3. Watch out for the special ITV Tonight  documentary into the issues of grandparents that will be broadcast this month. You will hear the real experiences of grandparents who have signed this petition and we will be sharing the highlights from our report/research.

4. Grandparents and friends continue to share their experiences and we as volunteers do our best to support them. A BIG shout out to Trish who is never too busy to listen and support those grandparents seeking legal redress. 

5. Very little joy from our politicians, many of us have written to them and some have had responses with no action but empathy. We need real action now because WE do not need pity and during my time of advocating I have heard of grandparents committing suicide. The levels of pain and distress continue to tragically affecting the of lives of grandparents and children.

Finally, we still have the vision for a Grandparents Helpline for the many that find the legal route a maze, as well as, extremely stressful and not grandparent and child focused. We are training people now and currently supporting grandparents and some have managed to have contact with their grandchildren, as a result of this support.
