Actualización de la petición"Mummy, where has grandma and grandpa gone?'Prime Minister wants to HEAR US

I have now been invited to write to the Prime Minister with our campaign and I urge you to keep signing as the strength in signing this petition is what will bring about the changes we are all working towards.

A recent survey states that approximately 14 million grandparents across the UK are saving the economy an estimated 7 billion a year on childcare. And when parents can no longer take care of their children, grandparents are often the ones to step up. In the case of seeking placements within Local Authority proceedings at least half of kinship carers in the UK are grandparents.

There are currently 200,000 kinship carers in the UK, with at least half of them being grandparents.

Yet, this significant relationship is still not recognised in the Children Act 1989. It is still the case grandparents face major challenges within the legal frameworks.  Thousands of children are prevented from having relationships with their grandparents where it has been evidenced that there are clearly no safeguarding concerns.

This campaign is about the rights for grandchildren to continue having safe, established and loving relationships. Also to protect children from having these relationships abruptly removed, leading to future adverse childhood experiences.

It is important to note, I first applied to the Government Petition which was turned down, so, please keep signing and passing this on, we need to double it!
