MultiChoice(DSTV) is the largest digital television service provider in Africa. It provides services in Lesotho, Nigeria, Republic of South Africa, Kenya and Zambia as examples. It also covers various sports discplines around the world via SuperSport channels. Being the largest digital television service provider in Africa, it is also the largest broadcaster of sports in Africa. This implies that masses of soccer fans in Africa rely on DSTV for coverage of European football. Subscribers in RSA and Lesotho pay R759.00 monthly if they are to access all channels on DSTV through a package called DSTV Premium. The other package is DSTV Compact where subscription is R345.00 monthly. DSTV Compact provide access to selected channels like channel 200, 203, 204, 209, 210 for sports. This channels falls under SuperSport. DSTV Compact is the package that is affordable by most Basotho and South Africans, and possibly Africans accross the continent. Channel 203(SS3) is the only channel in DSTV compact that covers European football regularly and thoroughly. However in the past season 2015/16, SS3 was covering mostly or almost only English Premiership games. The channel was broadcasting one or no game at all from La Liga, Series A, French Ligue1 and Bundesliga per week. However in the past few years, SS3 used to cover more of these above-mentioned leagues via highlights, replay, more live games, previews, reviews, and programs like Futbol Mundial. Subscribers of DSTV compact were exposed even to South American football through competitions like Copa America, Copa Liberdatores and many domestic leagues. However in recent years channel 203 seems to be broadcasting English Premiership only. This implies that masses of soccer followers are denied regular football from world class players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller etc who are not campaigning in English Premiership. Therefore, a humble plea to Multichoice/DSTV/Supersport is for channel 203(SS3) to cover more and televise more games from La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue1, Series A and South America. If that is impossible, at least televise or show replay of games involving top teams in those leagues, like Milan derby, El Classic and domestic cup finals and bring back programs like Futnol Mundial and other programs exposing viewers to various leagues across the world.
