Open Stroller on NYC's MTA Buses

The Issue

Dear Mr. Joseph J. Lhota,

A month ago today, while onboard the SBS 46, i learned from the bus' tv monitor's ad that some NYC buses has bike racks.

Making a quick mental notes: NYC buses has been disabled-friendly since i came to America 20 yrs ago; and then, 2 or 3 yrs ago, new NYC buses with WiFi and USB ports came____but none of these buses are stroller-friendly!

Mr. Lhota, please, would you kindly consider letting an open stroller(one can fit to the old buses in front) to the NYC buses? To the new ones, 2 or 3 open strollers can fit in there, next to the single seats. And if ever an MTA boards decides to add a new NYC buses: kindly put the child/children in an open strollers in mind, as a commuters, too. Thank you, in advance.

The most memorable thing i have had on my vacation in Canada last year was, to board in their Metro Bus with my then 4 yr old son in his opened stroller❤. My Canadian Aunt stopped me from getting my then-4 yr old son's stroller folded(as i was used doing so every time i hopped the NYC buses with my boys. My oldest's son then, and my youngest son now) to get ready before the bus come.  I've learned from my Canadian Aunt that, i didn't have to fold my son's stroller. Because, the Canadian Metro Buses is stroller-friendly❤ Can we do that, too, in our City? It would be very helpful to the Moms, Dads, Baby-sitters, Nannies, Child-caretakers, Guardians, who are still have stroller-aged child/children who's main transportations are MTA Buses. Those ones that has cars can benefit, too, if they decided to use MTA Buses.

I don't have stroller-aged children anymore, but, i can still remember the hardship i've been through having stroller folded boarding before the MTA buses: when my two sons was still in the stroller-age with carseat, i would put my baby's carseat on one hand and baby' diaper bag on that hand's shoulder, while keeping the folded stroller on my other hand's armpit. And, once onboard the bus, the other commuters bumped with my baby's carseat accidentally! And some would trip on my baby's folded stroller eventhough i kept it under my feet. I always sit on the disable's seat back then.

It was really, hard...please, let an open stroller on MTA Buses...

Thank you,

Sincerely,

Analie C. Fernandez
