Build a Second Entrance for York Street Station

0 have signed. Let’s get to 5,000!

The York Street F Station is a critical access point to DUMBO, Vinegar Hill, the Farragut Housing Community, the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Brooklyn Bridge Park and now, the new Wegman's grocery store. However, with only a single station entrance, York Street Station today is ill-equipped to handle the volume of straphangers coming and going from Dumbo each day. The station is overcrowded, with lines to climb the stairs and walk the long tunnel to Jay Street clogging the platform. At the entrance, lines frequently spill out onto Jay Street every day to get into the station. A mere three turnstiles process more than 12,000 passengers a day. ADA Access is non existent - at both York and at High Street (A/C). The closest elevators are at Jay Street Metrotech, and you need to cross two major highways (BQE + Tillary/Flatbush) and hike up a hill.

Dumbo is home to thousands of families, drives a remarkable amount of tourism value for the City of New York and is the heart of Brooklyn's Tech scene - with thousands of start ups and established technology companies like Etsy and United Technologies. The neighborhood has more than doubled in size in the last decade and the demands on the subway are expected to grow again, with thousands of new apartments coming on line in the next two years and close to a million new square feet of office space attracting companies like Rent the Runway, who will move in this winter.

We need a second entrance now. Sign below to send a strong message to the MTA, Governor Cuomo and Mayor DeBlasio.
