Is City Council trying to implement socialism?

This movement started with discrimination towards mobile vendors. It has brought to light the viewpoints of our City Council. The safety and health of our citizens are already covered in the current ordinance, while this amendment is purely for economic control. This upcoming vote, on Monday 14 September, will show us which council members believe that they can control/influence the local economy. I’ll leave you with the definitions of socialism and capitalism. You be the judge and decide for yourself how you want to be regulated. 

Capitalism vs Socialism

The capitalist economic model relies on free market conditions for the creation of wealth; the production of goods and services is based on supply and demand in the general market.

In a socialist economic model, the production of goods and services is either partially or fully regulated by the government.
