Rozie Lita started this petition to MSU students and

Brendan Santo went missing on October 29, 2021 from the campus of Michigan State University (MSU) in East Lansing, Michigan. https://m.facebook.com/BringBrendanSantoHome

After an extensive search of the river using multiple dive teams, sonar technology, boats, cadeavor dogs, droans, helicopters, etc, His body was recovered on January 21, 2022 from the Red Cedar River downstream about 1.5 miles from where he was last seen.
Brendan left MSU’s Yakeley Hall around 11:30 pm and was on his way to meet with other friends on campus.  He never made it there and was never seen by anyone.
The area this man is standing is located near Yakeley Hall on Beal Street where an approximate 5-6 foot accessible opening exists with no fencing along the Red Cedar River. Beyond this opening is not explorable or walkable by humans or animals since it drops quickly to a steep ravine/river. It is very dangerous with no danger/warning signs near the opening. Furthermore, the opening is located next to a crosswalk which invites pedestrians to cross and then go left to the sidewalk over the bridge. But why is this open??  At night, you may not know that beyond this opening is a huge drop off down to the Red Cedar River.  MSU needs to put barriers, lighting and signage in place to prevent any further tragedies along the Red Cedar River and the ravine.   Let’s make MSU a safer place in memory of our beloved Brendan Santo.
