The Minnesota State High School Leauge came to a decision on August 4th to move High School football to the spring of 2021 while clearing sports such as cross country, soccer, swimming, and tennis to compete as scheduled. For many seniors in the recruiting process, spring football is nearly the equivalent to not playing at all. By the time the spring season begins in March, commitments will already have been made and there's little to no room for us to showcase our true ceilings. Football not only teaches us life lessons, but it is also a large factor in the college decision-making process. All of the players in the state agree that we will be able to play the game we love in a safe and controlled fashion. There have to be temperature screenings before all team events, Everyone who touches the ball will be wearing gloves, visors can be installed in the helmets to further protect against transmission of the virus, Athletes who can drive should be allowed to opt-out of taking the team bus and driving themselves and up to two other teammates so that busses are not overcrowded. We have watched sports such as AAU Basketball, Lacrosse, soccer, and others continue throughout the summer. We players and parents of the state of Minnesota are asking for the chance to prove we can play football safely.
