HDBRTS has decided to run Polluting Diesel Buses on it's so-called Green BRTS corridor. Already 4000 HUGE TREES are DESTROYED for the BRTS Project. This makes it a BLACK BRTS and not Green BRTS. Our repeated requests to deploy CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) powered Buses instead of Diesel since 2013 have been IGNORED. CNG not only reduces the Particulate Matter (PM) and toxic gases like Carbon Monoxide, but also eliminates emission of carcinogenic substances such as Lead, Benzene and Sulphur from automobiles. HDBRTS is risking our Right to Clean Air, despite being funded under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) by the World Bank under the Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP) of the Government of India. Please learn some lessons from Delhi experience and Supreme Court's guidelines. Our Demand is very Clear: Deploy CNG Buses under HDBRTS and CNG is available in Dharwad-Hubballi.
