The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) recently announced changes to the start and end times for schools throughout the CBE system. The stated rationale is a reduction in transportation costs. The proposed changes result in significant differences in start and end times for several feeder schools, with school start and end times being as much as 80 to 90 minutes apart. This proposed change places an undue burden on families. We are urging the CBE to coordinate start and end bell times for feeder schools in close proximity to each other to support families involved with the public education system.
