Installation of noise barriers on Veer Sawarkar flyover goregaon

This petition is regarding the vehicular noise that emanates from the Veer Savarkar Flyover at Goregaon. I would like to request authorities to install sound barriers on the flyover. It seems that over the past few years the sound levels have drastically risen due to increase in traffic and further development of the infrastructure. The sound level is obviously very high during peak hours, but surprisingly, also in the evening hours after rush hour and on weekends. On some days the honking continues until midnight and post midnight. In addition to the constant drone created by passenger cars, the sound of trucks, trailers and the screechy bus tyres have increased and has a severe impact on the adjoining area's well-being.

Noise pollution in an urban area comes from many sources. Some sources are activities essential to the health, safety, and welfare of a city’s inhabitants, such as noise from emergency vehicle sirens like ambulances and fire brigades. Other sources, such as traffic, are essential to the viability of a city as a place to live and do business. Although these and other noise-producing activities are necessary to a city, the noise they produce is undesirable. Due to perennial traffic on the flyover, ambulances and other emergency vehicles have to wait for minimum fifteen minutes emitting loud blaring noise from the sirens. Urban noise detracts from the quality of the living environment, and there is increasing evidence that excessive noise represents a threat to public health.

I request you to kindly pay heed to this matter and solve our daily misery by installing sound absorbers.
