Dear Mr. Dave,

As you are aware of that there are more then 1 crore stray dogs who are struggling to survive on the roads of our country. Any dog lover would agree that a dog is a dog is a DOG. It does not matter what is the breed of the dog. All dogs are full of love. Why is there a need of dog breeders? Dog breeders are forcefully making the dogs mate and make them have babies and in-turn breeders are making money. Dog breeders are providing a horrible conditions to make these dogs mate a very small damp room they are putting large number of couples to forcefully make babies. These little puppies are being snatched away from the mother dog after just 15 days and then are being transported in horrible packing conditions across the country. We should not forget that this puppy is as innocent and as tender as a human baby. People are paying whopping sum of money for these high end breeds of dogs and at the time the stray dogs are living in hell in India. They don't get food, they don't know when they will get any food, they are ill treated anywhere they go, they don't know how to handle the traffics, they get hurt, they are limping- they are having several skin problems and this site is very depressing. Not only that- when a dog comes in front of a vehicle and there is an accident, the blame goes on the dog! Some youths and truck drivers actually derive a pleasure by hitting these stray dogs!!! My heart cries to see this condition. I feel very strong about it and want to do something. Together as a community we can change the picture.  Mr. Dave, Why can't people just adopt a stray dogs and vaccinate them, sterilize them and feed them and take care of them. This way we can not only change the picture but also show our compassion to the world. On one hand the world knows India as a spiritual country full of compassion and kindness and on other hand the current picture of stray animals does not justify it. If we can't take care of the living beings around us-how can we be a spiritual country!! It is a shame when a foreigner visits our country and look at the condition of the stray animals. One person who travelled from Canada to India asked me "Isn't this the statement from - BAPU Mahatma Gandhi - 'The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated', I am surprised that your own countrymen are not taking care of the animals." I was speechless!! I request you that till the time the condition of stray animals is being taken care of, ban the business of dog breeders and encourage people to adopt stray dogs!!  A country is formed by the people residing in it. It is the people who make the personality of the country, it is the people who bring in the culture to the country and it is the people who bring in the compassion to the mankind. We need to take care of these dogs together so that we all can live proudly after the matter of fact is addressed! Mr. Dave, If you can give incentive to people who take care of stray dogs then also people will come forward to participate together in this community drive! Please do something to provide a better environment for the stray dogs. After all they are also life just like all of us! Please don't discriminate between a Dog and a human being…… Best solution can be to impose 1000% tax on any purchase of dog. These funds can be used for sterilization programs of Stray Dogs.
