Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had instructed A. C. N. Nambiar, his Minister Plenipotentiary in Berlin, around April 1945, to order the Free Indian Legionnaires to surrender to the Russians rather than falling in the hands of Western Allies. Netaji did not die on 18th August 1945 in a plane crash in Taihoku as alleged and where else would he go at the end of the WWII, if not Soviet Union, as after all his mission was incomplete, India was not yet free and he had to reorganize his movement.
