Recently the school hours at Franklin Towne Charter High school have changed. The old hours were Monday, Tuesday,Thursday 7:50-3:00. On Wednesday's and Fridays the hours were 7:50-1:30. The new hours at Franklin Towne are absurd Monday's are 8:20-2:00, Tuesday,Thursday, Friday 8:20-3:30 which is insane since we are wearing mask's the whole entire time we get no breaks and if the mask is even a little bit down we are given a 60 minute detention. In the previous years Fridays we would always get out early it would be the end of the week the weekend would be starting it was be nice to be dismissed early  even the teachers complain about the schedule change its crazy. Wednesday's are 8:20-2:30 we would normally get out at 1:30 which confuses me why we now get out at 2:30. The Tuesday's, Thursday's and Fridays are so dreadful. It is horrible having to wear a mask in school all day and with the hours getting changed they made us have to be in school wearing the mask's for even longer. With the longer hours equals less attention. Students are already not motivated in school lots of students are not going to college because they did not have a good high school experience. Long school days are stressful some students play sports after school other's have after school jobs that they cant miss out on the extra hours because they need the money to help support there family. Some students go to work right after school or they play sports right after school which gives them no time to do there homework therefore they stay up all night doing it and get no sleep for the next school day. Extended school days result in scheduling conflicts such as low energy, sleep deprivation and exhaustion. On Tuesday, Thursday, Friday the last lunch starts at  1:25 which is ridiculous that is too late for kids to be eating especially since we just came back from being virtual and could eat whenever we please.  We are not trying to get out at 12:00 everyday we just want these 3:30 days to be changed because the days are too long. Please sign this so we can try our best to get this done.
