Dear Mr Subramanian Swamy,

We have been your admirer from the emergency period and have watched with admiration and interest your fights for various causes.

But we are shocked and dismayed to find that you intend to defend the self styled godman Asaram Bapu. 

You know it, like I and every aware citizen knows, that these godmen are fake. But let us limit ourselves to Asaram Bapu. 

Look at the charges against 

Asaram Bapu. Asaram is not an average citizen whose rights may be violated, and can be thrown in jail. So the charges have to be taken seriously. 

He has been booked for allegedly raping one of two Surat-based sisters who stayed at his ashram in Gujarat between 1997 and 2006.

The spiritual guru has  been accused of illegal confinement and criminal conspiracy. This is the second case of sexual assault against Asaram Bapu. 

He was first arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at his ashram in Jodhpur.  

18 persons have been found murdered in his ashrams.

 At least two witnesses in the rape cases against Asaram have been shot dead.

 You are capable of getting him freed on bail, the Rich Man's Justice. 

But as a responsible leader, as a conscientious citizen, please pause and think for a moment. We appeal to you to decline his brief.
