Most of you are obviously not members of a community who have family members somewhere in another part of Australia or the world, and perhaps have not 'thought through' the impact of keeping your borders closed for the health and 'safety' of your voters.

Have you thought of the mental impact is has on people and do you have more facilities available in your hospitals to treat these people after the virus has been subjugated? Because psychological illness lasts longer than a pandemic - ask your health service which is having the pay the brunt of the medical bills, notwithstanding the distress of other family members and associates.  After all, 'FAMILY' - PEOPLE and not only business, is what keeps the world ticking isn't it? It gives a reason & desire for the average man in the street to work towards something doesn't it.

You might think by isolating prevents a virus from entering the state.  Needless to say, most viruses are not aware of borders - that's why the so called 'Kansas infection/incorrectly named 'Spanish 'flu', was able to travel with young soldiers to Europe (via Spain?) in the late 1918 war ships from America. Ultimately killing many denizens more so than the bombing that still raged through cities - and my Italian great grandmother, who had, with great difficulty in those times, travelled from Naples to Coventry!

Here comes the second personal piece of information: We, amongst many, many others, appear to have an even greater difficulty in travelling to WA, to get finally to see our two children and families whome we've not seen for three years. (our grandson Finnick of 14 months we've not seen at all, and grand-daughter Emmeline, only as a baby). We are all getting older! And -  You must look at the rest of the world and see in spite of the many contingencies in place in countries, people still register positive or are virus recovered cases (or die)!  In spite of all this - despite this - life is continuing - must continue! Physically AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY! - Please let this happen in WESTERN AUSTRALIA.

Although we realise many others are in worse straits, we throw ourselves onto your compassion and ask you to think through the strictures you've put in place and once and for all make a compassionate, and certainly for your state, an economic decision and open your border, please!  IN ALL SINCERITY - PLEASE! Mr McGowan, as the 30th Premier of Western Australia you surely have the power to convince your government of the humanity of this request.
