Mandothi is a village near Bahadurgarh in Haryana. It is largely unknown that this quiet little village is of global significance as a critical pit stop in the spectacle of avian migration to our region.

Rain water aggregates in 25 beeghas of private farm land & from October to March, provides for lacs of birds migrating from across temperate Eurasia. 

This wetland needs to be saved & rechristened a Bird sanctuary. Wetlands do mankind a great favour in the fight to keep our environment habitable. So this could surely be a local initiative that helps one and all. The farm owners too need to be appreciated for their love and tolerance towards this attention that nature bestows on them.

We should therefore request the timely intervention of our public representatives to take cognizance of this matter and change the official status of this area to a bird sanctuary & an 'Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA)'. Conserving global environmental assets & averting a tragedy like the one that enacted at Sambhar lake is critical now.
