Unscrupulous leaders of MCI and IMA are plundering Indian medical system and working to bring back disgraced ex-MCI president, Dr. Ketan Desai, to the helm of Indian medicine once again. While Dr. Desai is still waiting for his criminal trial for bribery and corruption to begin, his medical cronies at MCI and IMA including Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. K.K. Aggarwal, Dr. Sudipto Roy, Dr. V.P. Mishra are hatching plan to obstruct the course of justice by glorifying Dr. Desai through lies and baseless assertions.  Recently, several top MCI/IMA leaders pleaded before the World Medical Association (WMA) and demanded that Dr. Desai should be installed as the next WMA president through unfounded claim that all cases against Dr. Desai have been dropped by the CBI. Dr. Desai’s cronies have already occupied top positions in MCI including president and vice-president through a botched election last December.  The new MCI president, Dr. Jayshreeben Mehta, harassed and forced the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), Mr. H.K. Jethi, to resign from MCI for investigating complaints against Desai cronies.  Unless the health ministry takes immediate and exemplary action against the wide-spread corruption to cleanse MCI, standard of medical education and healthcare delivery system will continue to plummet across India.
