Chicago Chinese Consul General, help us to end the dog and cat meat trade

China has much to be proud of; many millennia of artistic excellence, its emergence into a manufacturing giant and resulting surging economy, but it also has the most reprehensible and dark side, preventing it from becoming a true world power; the barbaric dog and cat meat trade. 10 million or more dogs and cats, mostly stolen pets, die the most sadistically brutal death each year under the misguided belief that the more the animal suffers and the greater its adrenaline level before slaughter, the greater the medicinal benefit (virility and temperature regulation) to the consumer. Methods of torture include boiling, skinning, blow torching, dismembering and disemboweling them while conscious. Some are simply beaten for hours or days on end to tenderize their meat. Conversely, outbreaks of Rabies, Cholera and Trichinellosis have been connected to handling and eating dogs and cats. Children have also been desensitized and traumatized from observing the torture and slaughter of these sentient beings. 11 million Chinese citizens have signed petitions urging their government to stop this atrocity and many activists there have risked their lives trying to save these pets. An investigation by PETA has uncovered evidence that dog skin has been used in leather products manufactured in China, mislabeled as faux or other leather. It's believed that these products have entered the U.S. market. Since China is our largest trade partner, we have the right to speak up against the barbaric torture inflicted upon those who have no voice. The time has come to put an end to this nightmare for man's best friends! Attributed to Mahatma Gandhi: “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Let's pledge to boycott as much as possible from China until this nightmare for dogs and cats ends.
