Mr Carney, will Canada be the first country to back Humanity's Plan B?
The Issue
Billions of us believe an Age of Thriving for all is possible, Mr Carney. Everything you have said and written suggests you believe it too. So this petition asks one question: will Canada be the first country to back the civic institution that can make it happen?
What we are asking for
Two things, neither of them money. A public statement from the Prime Minister's Office that Canada stands behind UnitedPeoples. And a meeting with its founder and team. A country's name, said out loud, so that other countries can follow.
What UnitedPeoples is
UnitedPeoples (UP) is a registered Dutch public benefit foundation in The Hague, bound by law to serve the public and to keep its books open. It was conceived in Canada and launched in The Hague by its founder, Bob Westrope, a Canadian who moved there to join with others to build it for everyone, not just for Canada. We call it Humanity's Plan B.
UP is a civic institution designed for a hundred million people, in every country, organised into communities they choose. Each person with a plan for their own thriving, and the support to get there. Communities taking on Projects that fix what's broken where they live. And an economy underneath it all, bound by law to serve its members, not to extract from them. Membership free, and what starts free stays free.
Not a movement. Not a campaign. An institution, built to last and big enough to matter.
Where it stands
The plan is built. The foundation exists. The team is real: over ten years, thirty thousand hours have gone into this from more than a thousand people in thirty-five countries. The first backers are on the Roll. What UP does not have yet is a country willing to stand behind it.
Why Canada
Canada gave the world peacekeeping. Canada is trusted where almost nobody else is. And in Davos this January, Mr Carney said that living in truth means building what we claim to believe in, and creating institutions "that function as described", rather than waiting for the old order to be restored. That is exactly what UnitedPeoples is. It should be Canada.
Why you don't have to be Canadian
Someone has to go first. This petition is the world asking Canada to be that country. You don't have to be Canadian to sign. It means more if you're not.
Sign it. Then send it to one Canadian you know.
