Cancel and Boycott “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Classes - Tunica Fall Classic Horse Show
Please SIGN this Petition to STOP “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty to beautiful Tennessee Walking Horses.
Native Mississippian, the late Elvis Aaron Presley loved Tennessee Walking Horses.
So does his beloved widow Ms. Priscilla Presley, a leader in the fight against “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty. In 2013, she asked the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration to return the Graceland Challenge Trophy annually presented in honor of Elvis Presley because of the inhumane treatment of the "Big Lick" horses.
The trophy is now in Ms. Presley's possession.
In February 2015, another native of Mississippi started a Change.Org Petition on behalf of CCABLAC (Citizens Campaign Against "Big Lick" Animal Cruelty), asking his alma mater, the University of Mississippi, to:
- Sever all ties with a “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty;
- Refuse to accept an annual $50,000.00 charitable donation to the Children's Hospital from the "Big Lick" Mississippi Charity Horse Show in Jackson because it featured "Big Lick" Animal Cruelty.
In seven days, Ole Miss decisively shed itself of the stigma of "Big Lick" Animal Cruelty. It publicly "disassociated" UMMC from the Mississippi Charity Horse Show which featured "Big Lick" Animal Cruelty, and announced it would no longer accept charitable donations from the event for its Childrens Hospital.
In October 2016, the death of the"Big Lick" Mississippi Charity Horse Show, held for over 76 years on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson, Mississippi, was officially announced.
Now sadly - the "Big Lickers" are again trying to invade the Hospitality State of Mississippi, and tarnish it with Animal Cruelty.
The home of "Big Lick" Animal Cruelty - the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration (Shelbyville, TN) - is hosting the 'Big Lick' "Tunica Fall Classic Horse Show" at Tunica County Arena on Nov. 3-5, 2016.
The Tunica County Arena is only 22 miles from Elvis Presley's final resting place at his beautiful home of Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.
Seventy (70%) of the 63 classes at Tunica will feature the horrible "Big Lick".
Thirty (30%) of the "Big Lick" Tennessee Walking Horses inspected by the USDA Vets at the 2015 Celebration's "Tunica Fall Classic" were disqualified for alleged Horse Protection Act violations (Animal Cruelty).
Tennessee Walking Horses are tortured from an early age to learn how to do the “Big Lick”. It is a pain induced gait. The horses throw their legs high while wearing Chains and 6 – 8 pound stack shoes. Caustic chemicals are applied to sensitive skin above the horses hooves, and then wrapped with plastic to “cook in” the chemicals which causes the skin to be blistered.
When the chains hit the skin, the horses throw their front legs high while squatting down on their back legs – creating the cruel “Big Lick”. “Big Lick” TWH are the only horses in America which wear Chains in the show ring.
According to native Tennessean and Noted Equine Vet Dr. John Haffner, the "Big Lick" is a "business built on the suffering and pain of horses". Dr. Haffner is a Horse Science Faculty Professor at MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University) in Murfreesboro, TN.
There is overwhelming landslide support (71%) for U. S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack's proposed Federal Regulation (July 26, 2016) to remove the "Pads and Chains" and abolish the "Big Lick" Animal Cruelty forever.
It’s time for Americans, and citizens of the World, to let Mr. Bill Canter of the Tunica Convention & Visitors Bureau know that hosting "Big Lick" Animal Cruelty is bad for business.
Please sign this Petition and urge the public to Boycott “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty at Tunica, Mississippi
